UAVM.com's Future is Uncertain - It Needs Your Support to Continue in It's Current Mode

UAVM.com has been serving the UAV community for 6 months and in this timeframe has enjoyed over 3,000 unique viewers, from over 81 countries, resulting in over 17,400 pageloads from a broad spectrum of airframe and subsystem vendors, government viewers including the Congress, DoD, DHS (CPB), NASA and the FAA, academic institutions, major consulting firms, think tanks, and general interest users. Twenty percent of viewers spend over an hour onsite and many are return visitors – many in excess of 10 times, viewing the most popular pages, and from multiple entry points. UAVM.com viewers are focused on only one thing – accurate organized information on Unmanned Aircraft Systems. Yet no commercial entity has stepped up to the plate to help underwrite the cost of production and maintenance.

UAVM.com was conceived to be an industry supported, comprehensive, current and well maintained resource for all interested users – the original business model was based upon paid sponsorship and advertising to offset the costs of production and maintenance. Unfortunately this business model, in practice, has not been realized.

The two ways that you can participate are through Advertising or Sponsorship.

Advertisers, who generally consist of manufacturers and vendors who wish to highlight specific products or technologies, have access to a highly focused group of industry viewers, who are interested in UAS airframes, applications or subsystem technology and the changing regulatory environment for UAVs. Attached is an advertising rate sheet for your use with a companion PDF that shows “most popular” pages.

Sponsors support UAVM.com because of its general utility to the UAV industry as an information resource and as a web portal to specific hardware and technology data. Sponsorship is categorized into three levels. A Platinum Sponsor is recommended to contribute $1500 annually, a Gold Sponsor $1000 annually, and a Silver Sponsor $500 annually. Individual sponsorships are also welcomed. Sponsorship contributions will be highlighted on a page that acknowledges your company's generosity to UAVM.com and to the UAV industry.

UAVM contact information can be found here. PayPal is an alternative method of providing sponsorship contributions through the email address james@uavm.com.

UAVM.com understands the Internet mantra that “Information Wants to Be Free” however packaged, concise, vetted, accurate and current information has production costs. UAVM.com’s two sponsors, Shephard Group’s UVOnline.com and RFGlobalnet are both for in kind reciprocal web traffic building and cross promotional purposes. It has now become imperative that UAVM.com generate adequate revenue to offset production and maintenance costs.

UAVM.com is asking for your support so that it can continue to publish UAV/UAS intelligence as a sponsor and advertising supported website. A less desirable alternative is as business model is a subscription based for-pay site residing behind a firewall.

This solicitation will disappear by the end of August one way or another – perhaps sooner predicated on the industry response. The one unique characteristic of the internet is that it is, is in economic terms, a "perfect market". Users have almost unlimited chaoice and "perfect knowledge" about competative offerings. Now you are being asked to vote with both your viewership and with your treasure. It is your individual and collective choice to define how UAVM.com evolves.
