Commercial (Civil) Applications NASA published an Overview of UAV Civil Applications potential uses( see NASA UAV Civil for an overview of this comprehensive review). UAV World has published an article on UAVs for Commercial Use. IN 2001, Dr. K.C. Wong, University of Sindey, has published a UAV "Survey of Regional Developments: Civil Applications" examing civil UAV applications in Australia. The Mitre Corporation, a principle "DoD think tank" offers strategic views on several emergent Civil UAV Applications including a Stratospheric Telecommunications Airship, High Altitude Imagery,  Border Patrol, Maritime Surveillance, Environmental Sensing, Media and Traffic Monitoring, and Tactical Law Enforcement. The NASA Civil UAV Team headquartered at the Dryden Flight Center has published a survey (report) including appendices listing high priority commercial target application mission summaries and a capabilities and technologies section. Following, on this and subsequent pages, are categorized lists of promising commercial UAV applications that have been compiled from the available literature and which reflect the best opportunities for short term development. Applications completed or currently under study by Centers of Excellence, are linked to a source URL or document. As the UAVM/UAV industry experience curve expands and new projects come onstream, these pages will be updated to reflect that experience curve.
